Winter Travel Teams
Registration for the 2026-2027 travel team tryouts will open in April. Registration will remain open for each individual tryout location until two weeks before each tryout, or when each tryout sells out, whichever comes first.
The 222's Travel Teams program began in the fall of 2014, with just two female teams that traveled to one tournament in January of 2015. 10 years later, it has grown to become an advanced program, providing high performance training and competition for athletes in U12 to U18 age groups. Our teams receive elite training in all areas of the game, on and off the field. Players attend classroom sessions with our staff instructors, mental performance training, and are connected to sport science professionals to support their development as elite athletes.
Participation in the Winter Travel Teams program involves a tryout and selection process. Tryouts are hosted in Saskatoon, Edmonton and Calgary during August each year.
The Tryout Process
To make one of the female Travel Teams, athletes must attend any one of the 2-day tryout camps. Day 1 of each camp will consist of softball skill testing (arm velo, exit speed, positional testing, etc.), fitness testing, uniform/gear try-ons, pitcher/catcher testing, and parents meetings. Athletes can expect to be at the tryout for most of the first day. Day 2 will be hitting, pitching, catching, infield and outfield observational drills split by groups. Athletes can expect to be at the tryout for 2.5-3 hours, depending on positions.
Once all tryout camps have concluded, 222's Head Coaches will begin making offers. This process can take time, but will be completed by the first few days of September.
Parent Meeting
On Day 1 of each tryout weekend, there is a mandatory Parents Meeting. Please ensure you have a representative for your family there to represent your athlete and receive the information. We have some exciting improvements to the travel program this year, and with some details still in the works, we will use the parents meeting to discuss trip details, costs, practice weekends, expectations, etc. of our team athletes and families for this travel season.
Tournaments/Trips
Each age group will have 5 or more trip opportunities. Players selected to the teams, will be offered to travel for one, two or three trips. Regardless of how many trips you accept, all players selected will take part in the team practices, as well as Mental Training and Strength & Conditioning Programs.
Our 2025-2026 season took us to many cities in several across the US - California, Tennessee, Arizona, Georgia, and Nevada! We will return to many of these locations for the 2026-2027 season, though we are working on some new options as well!
The expected travel dates are end of October, beginning of November, beginning of December, end of January, Middle of February, beginning of March, and middle of April. We are still working to finalize the last few tourney options, and will have a complete list of tourney dates and locations at the parents meetings held on day 1 of each tryout.

Based on changes from the major organizations that govern the tournaments we attend across the US, age groups were changed slightly in the 2025/2026 season. Athletes will now stay in the same age group all year. The age groups for the 2026/2027 Travel Season are as follows:
