To “register” for the Development Program, athletes must register & attend one of the travel team tryouts and select “yes” to the Development Program question during that registration process.

222's Fastpitch is pleased to announce the launch of the "222's Fastpitch Development Program," beginning in September 2026. This new initiative will complement our existing Travel Teams.

The program is designed for U13 and U15 female athletes (for the 2026-2027 season, this will be birth years 2012–2015) who aspire to play on our 2's Travel Teams.

Purpose of the Development Program

Each year, many athletes seek more elite training and competitive experiences than our public camps and clinics offer. This program provides high-level instruction to help prepare athletes for future Travel Team opportunities.

Additionally, the Development Program will serve as a "farm system" for our Travel Teams, providing a pool of prepared athletes should we need to fill roster spots due to injuries or other vacancies. This ensures that more athletes have the opportunity to train with the 2’s while working toward their goal of making a Travel Team roster.

Registration

There is no standalone registration for the Development Program. Simply register for one of our Travel Team Tryout Camps and check “yes” when asked: "My athlete would like to be considered for the Development Program if not selected for a Travel Team roster."

Selection Process

To be considered, athletes must attend one of the following 222's Fastpitch Tryout Camps:

Calgary: August 11th & 12th, 2026

Saskatoon: August 15th & 16th, 2026

Edmonton: August 18th & 19th, 2026

Saskatoon: August 22nd & 23rd, 2026

Travel Team rosters will be finalized during the last week of August 2026. Development Program participants will then be selected from the remaining pool of athletes during the first week of September 2026.

Training Details

Schedule: Development Program Athletes will have fourteen 3 hr training opportunities between September 2026 and March 2027.

Focus: Training will emphasize core skill development under the instruction of 222's Fastpitch coaches.

Competition: All DP athletes will be placed on a roster to compete in a tournament in the USA from March 15th–21st, 2027.

Locations: Saskatchewan athletes will train in Saskatoon and Moose Jaw; Alberta athletes will train in Edmonton and Calgary. Additional locations are currently being considered.
