Scholarship Awards

Each year at the 2's Year End Banquet, held during the travel teams final practice weekend, multiple scholarships are awarded to deserving athletes. The Rayzors Edge Scholarship Award and the Shaye Amundson Memorial Scholarship Award have been handed out to more than a dozen athletes. We are honored to be adding a new scholarship this year in partnership with the Baker family - The Elle Baker Scholarship. Please see below for details on each scholarship.

sHAYE aMUNDSON mEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

Shaye was a former 222’s Fastpitch Athlete, who played on our 2015-2016 18U Team. In the summer of 2016, we lost Shaye in a tragic car accident. Shaye’s passing touched so many people in and outside her community of Debden, SK. To say Shaye was a spark plug on our 222’s Fastpitch Team is definitely an understatement. Not only was Shaye a very talented softball player, but what made Shaye something special on our ball club was her passion and heart that she exhibited every time she stepped on the field. Thank-you Shaye for making everyone around you a better athlete and a better person!

This $500 award is presented to a travel team athlete who continually showed up each night with a passion and dedication to better herself and those around her. This recipient is selected by the 2's Travel Team Coaching staff.

Elle Baker Scholarship

Elle Baker began her career with 222's in 2022 as a member of the 14U travel team in Sacramento. Playing as a pitcher and outfielder, Elle was a respected teammate and an integral part of our program.

In 2023, Elle was diagnosed with leukemia. While her teammates competed on the field, Elle fought her battle from home in Calgary, following their progress via Game Changer. At the 2025 Year-End Banquet, a substantial fund was raised to support the Baker family. In a selfless gesture, the family chose to use these funds to establish a scholarship in Elle's name to support 222's Fastpitch athletes who have demonstrated similar strength through personal struggles.

The Elle Baker Scholarship Fund recognizes athletes who demonstrate exceptional resilience. This $1000 award honors the perseverance, determination, and strength that define true character both on and off the field. The scholarship is awarded to a Travel Team athlete who has overcome adversity while pursuing excellence. Eligible candidates include those who have:

- Recovered from a significant injury or illness.

- Overcome personal hardships.

- Demonstrated remarkable mental toughness through significant challenges.

Nominations must be submitted to brittany@222sfastpitch.com by January 30th of each travel season. Recipients will be chosen based on their story of resilience, positive attitude, and commitment to growth. Any personal information included in the nomination will only be shared publicly with the recipient's explicit consent.

Through this scholarship, the Baker family seeks to celebrate individuals who embody courage and the relentless pursuit of development, regardless of the obstacles they face.
