Winter Training Sessions

October - December

Winter Training is our longest running training program, having been a part of 222's Fastpitch since our inception 10 years ago. The 2025 Winter Training Sessions will run in Saskatoon, Regina and Edmonton. PA & MJ will move to the Triple Play Camp training program and there will be no Boys specific winter training. All Winter Training Sessions are open to girls & boys this year.

Each Winter Training Series consists of six 3-hour training dates. Open to girls & boys playing U11-U19, these main sessions give athletes instruction on mechanics and positional skills through all aspects of the game. Athletes will be split into groups based on age and skill level to best meet athletes where they are at and ensure we can challenge all athletes to take their game to the next level.

Pitching and Catching sessions are now three separate 1-hour trainings, either immediately before or immediately following sessions 1, 3 and 5 (dependent on location). This will enable all pitchers and catchers to improve their skills, while also getting to achieve maximum development on their fielding skills as well.

**Saskatoon will have one P/C session that will happen on a separate day from main training.

*Pitchers are required to provide their own catcher, and adult or peer, who is not registered in the catching sessions. Registered pitchers and catchers work separately from one another for best use of the training time.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between Red and Black programs?

The only difference between Red and Black is the date/time of the session. The training plan is the same for both programs.

Why do pitchers require a catcher not registered in the catching camp?

We have our pitchers and catchers work separately so that both positions can maximize the skills developed in the training time.

Can a parent catch for their pitcher?

Absolutely! Parents are a great option, as it gives a second set of eyes and ears to listen to the instructors teachings and comments, resulting in better retention when practicing at home.

Do the catchers who are there for the pitchers have to wear gear?

We recommend all catchers wear a mask at minimum. Adults are not required to wear any protective equipment, they can make that decision for themselves. Minors are required to wear a face mask at minimum, though full gear is strongly recommended.

Do registered catchers need their own gear?

It is strongly recommended that catchers have their own gear. We do several drills that a catcher will not get the full effect from if they are not wearing gear. Please check with your minor ball association if you don't have your own set, as they will often allow you to borrow it.

Can my athlete make up a missed session?

Yes, given there is room in the groups session you'd like to attend. It is very common for our Winter Training programs to sell out, so we ask that all athletes let us know as soon as possible if they will not be able to attend one of the sessions. That way, we know if we will have room for anyone wanting to make up a missed session from another group. To request attending another groups session as a makeup date, please email Brittany@222sfastpitch.com with your athletes name, program location (and colour if applicable), the date(s) you'll miss with the requested makeup group and date(s).
